2014wop The Wine Advocate reviewer team has selected 79 Portuguese wines for tasting during the initiative Matter of Taste that will take place in 8 cities around the world. The main purpose of the event is to make known exceptional wines through a selection of exceptional master classes and wine-pairing dinners.

Each wine at the event is rated RP 90 points or higher and has been handpicked for its outstanding quality and complexity. The Taylor’s Port Vintage from the 2000 harvest was the Portuguese wine with the highest score, classified with RP 98 points (out of 100 possible). 

Of the 79 scored wines, 8 wines obtained scores equal to or greater than 96 points, including:  Graham's Vintage Port (2011), with RP 95-97 points; Vintage Taylor’s Port (1994), with 97 points; Quinta do Castro Vinha Maria Teresa (2011), with RP 96 points; Quinta do Mouro Red Gold Label (2007), with RP 96 points; Quinta do Mouro Red Gold Label (2009), with RP 94-96 points; Quinta do Zambujeiro Red (2007), with RP 96 points; and Quinta Vale D Maria Red (2009), with RP 96 points.

The event Matter of Taste is “a no-holds-barred walkabout wine tasting experience built around sought-after, iconic wines and the most talented winemakers in the world”.
